GBKA moving to Grantham House National Trust

From July 14th GBKA are moving venues for our monthly meetings to Grantham House National Trust. Meetings will be on the second Wednesday of each month between 7.30 - 9.30pm.

Grantham House is being operated by St Wulfram's Church who are keen for us to have some beehives in the lovely 5 acre walled gardens too, so this is planned for the future and it will be a great addition to the association to have some hives for teaching, courses and general husbandry.

Grantham House is a lovely location dating back to the 14th century right in the centre of town on Castlegate, NG31 6SS.

Open Apiary and Social 22nd May 2021

Following the relaxing of Covid restrictions we held our first open apiary and social event of the 2021 season at Donya's farm in the Vale of Belvoir. Despite less than idea weather conditions around 30 members came along to mix and for some bee chat. In the afternoon the weather improved enough to open up some colonies. Stewart brought along a couple of small nucleus colonies that we all went through and Donya even opened up a couple of her larger colonies which was particularly interesting for some of the new members as was Tanya's observation hive that she brought along. Keep a look out for further events this summer.
